Since the COVID pandemic started in March 2020, KAMO Adventures has had the amazing opportunity to deliver thousands of dollars worth of toiletries, cleaning supplies, snacks, laundry detergent, bottled water and other sundry items, along with children's books to groups in Jerico Springs, MO and right here in Kansas City. We also were able to provide supplies for Fort Campbell's Welcome Home Celebration for troops that were returning from overseas. So far, in total, KAMO has worked with our partners to donate OVER

$1 MILLION in supplies to our communities! But we have plans to do even more!

Jerico Springs

​

Jerico Springs is a small community near the location of our KAMO Adventures ranch. KAMO Veterans stay at the ranch during our various hunting and fishing trips and the Jerico Springs community has been a wonderful source of support for our organization. This was a wonderful opportunity for KAMO Adventures to be able to give back to this community during this difficult time. KAMO Board Member, Dave Haubein, whose home is one of the locations that house veteran trip attendees, has many wonderful and heartwarming stories of all the good these supplies have done in their community.

St. Michael's Veteran's Home

​

Here in Kansas City, KAMO Adventures delivered a huge supply of laundry detergent to the St. Michael’s Veterans Home. It was one of the items that Cindy Taylor, Service Manager at St. Michael's Veterans Home, expressed a great need for at this time. They were overjoyed with the delivery as it will be able to supply them for over 3 months! 

 

Cindy said, “Many residents at St. Michael’s Veterans Center experience life on an extremely low monthly income. After paying rent and other bills they struggle to meet the rest of their needs such as food, hygiene and other basic needs. When St. Michael’s Veterans Center was originally conceived and built, the developers were cognizant of this and built laundry rooms on each floor with washers and dryers that are free to use. To this end, St. Michael’s residents are so grateful for the recent generous and GINORMOUS donation of laundry soap. The residents can now take that necessary item off their shopping list – thanks to KAMO and their donors.”

In addition, we received the donation of a motorized scooter that we were also able to donate to St. Michael's for one of their residents.

Fort Campbell

​

The Fort Campbell chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) coordinated the delivery of 24 pallets of snacks, water and hygiene items to the installation on June 9, 2020. This event kicked off a week-long celebration to celebrate Army’s birthday.

​

Volunteers and board members of AUSA FTC met the tractor-trailer full of goods at Fort Campbell’s MWR Warehouse where they helped with the delivery. Snacks and supplies will be divided up and sent to each of Fort Campbell’s brigades as well as other tenant units.

​

“We are so excited about this opportunity to give a little something back to the soldiers and families of Fort Campbell who give so much for us” said Kelli Pendleton, President of the AUSA Fort Campbell chapter. “This was a coordinated effort that we hope to do again”.

 

Past president of AUSA FTC, Dave Cooper, connected the chapter with Vietnam veteran Mike Meyer, KAMO Adventures Board Member, who organized the donated goods and transfer to Fort Campbell. “We have great community partners that help us support active duty soldiers, veterans and their family members”, said Charlie Koon, 1st Vice President of AUSA FTC, “A great example of these partnerships can be seen through the support given to us by Mike Meyer, who helped make this donation to AUSA a reality. We can’t thank him enough for helping us with our mission.”

Representation from the Tennessee National Guard were also present for the delivery. The AUSA Fort Campbell chapter is planning a second delivery similar to this one for the Tennessee National Guard as well as making plans to deliver children’s books to school districts in the region where a lot of military children attend.

 

KAMO Adventures is working with AUSA to coordinate the delivery to the Tennessee National Guard and at the end of June Fort Campbell received over 30,000 pounds of children's books on base to be distributed to families.

Our Partners

The majority of the goods KAMO was able to deliver to St. Michael’s Veterans Home, Jerico Springs, and Fort Campbell were donated by Church & Dwight Corporation (Arm & Hammer Corporation) and Feed the Children.

 

Mike Meyer, KAMO Board member shares, “Feed the Children and Church & Dwight Corporation have always been incredibly generous to local communities and they jumped at the chance to be able to assist veterans and the local Jerico Springs community. It is KAMO Adventures honor to be able to help disperse these items to those most in need.” Church & Dwight Corporation donated an abundance of cleaning supplies, laundry soap, and other soap-based sundries. Feed the Children provided a large amount of bottled water, snacks, and baby diapers for veterans and their families. All in all, the generosity of these donors led to thousands of dollars worth of items being dispersed into our community to benefit veterans, their families, as well as the communities that have helped support KAMO Adventures. Your donations to KAMO Adventures have gone a long way toward funding the transportation costs to deliver the semi's worth of goods to these various locations.

“There are many ways to navigate an upheaval in our way of life. KAMO Adventures is fortunate enough to be able to do that by helping bless others with the delivery of supplies and goods they need during this difficult time” says Bill Eckert, KAMO Board member and cofounder. “Even though we are unable to gather together for our events at the moment for safety reasons, we still want to make sure KAMO is out there in the community supporting those who have supported us and the veterans who need our support now more than ever” Bill says.
